LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N has nominated Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the office of the Prime Minister.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the party in Lahore on Sunday afternoon.
Final approval of the nomination will be made during the Parliamentary Party meeting before the start of the first session of the new National Assembly.
Meanwhile‚ Muslim League-N has got the simple majority in the National Assembly after joining of 18 independent members elect.
According to Election Commission‚ the members include 12 from Punjab‚ 4 from Balochistan and one each from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
PML-N has already bagged 126 seats and with the joining of these independents the strength of PML-N has reached 144 in the National Assembly. Its strength will swell further after the inclusion of women and minorities reserved seats under proportionate system.
In the Punjab Assembly‚ 32 independents have joined PML-N while 9 independents have joined Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
