ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday took suo motu notice of the tragic explosion in a school van in the outskirts of Gujrat on May 25 which had left at least 15 children dead.

The Chief Justice fixed June 4 as the date of hearing over the case.

Justice Chaudhry directed Secretary Petroleum, Chief Secretary of Punjab, Punjab’s Secretary of transport department, Inspector General of Punjab police, and the administration of the school related to the incident to submit their reports.

On Saturday, at least 15 children and a teacher were burned to death in a village near Gujrat when a faulty fuel system caused an explosion in a van which was transporting them to school.
