ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Expressing deep concern over the COVID-19 situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan has offered to send a consignment of medical supplies to the conflict-stricken region to deal with the pandemic.

“AJK ready to send a consignment of medicines, vents, oxygen, sanitizers, masks & PPEs (Personal Protective Equipments) to help Kashmiris fight Coronavirus,” the AJK President Masood Khan said.

Masood Khan said that the consignment can be delivered by the AJK Red Crescent.

The AJK president said that the COVID-19 pandemic has spiked in the IIOJK with over 200,000 infections and more than 2,500 deaths. He said that every day more than 3500 new Coronavirus Cases are being reported and the latest daily cited fatalities have been more than 50.

Masood Khan appealed to the World Health Organization (WHO) to persuade India to allow and ensure delivery of the consignment.

Meanwhile, according to Health Officials in the IIOJK, the Indian government has not only stopped the supply of COVID-19 vaccine to the territory but is also diverting the allocated stocks to other Indian Cities.

The Health Officials said that the vaccine supplies to Indian Occupied Kashmir have been stopped since last Thursday and hundreds of people daily return unvaccinated due to shortage of vaccine stock.
