COVID-19 claims 76 more lives in Pakistan; positivity ratio soars to 7.53%

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Coronavirus Cases continue to rise in Pakistan as the unrelenting COVID-19 fourth wave has battered the Country, causing 76 more deaths and pushing the positivity ratio to 7.53% on July 28.

In the last 24 hours, 59,707 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the Country and 4,497 of them returned positive, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

The infection took further 76 lives including 43 in Sindh, 17 in Punjab, 7 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 6 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 2 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and 1 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

To date, a total of 1,020,324 Coronavirus Cases have been detected in the Country. Out of them, 374,434 Cases have surfaced in Sindh, 354,904 in Punjab, 142,799 in KPK, 86,602 in ICT, 30,019 in Balochistan, 23,631 in AJK, and 7,935 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Similarly, 23,209 people have so far succumbed to COVID-19 across the Country. Most of the deaths have been reported in Punjab which has suffered 10,995 fatalities followed by Sindh wherein 5,903 people have died.

In KPK 4,435 COVID patients have so far passed away, in ICT 797 people, in AJK 620 people, in Balochistan 326 people, and in Gilgit-Baltistan 133 people.

So far 937,354 people, however, have recovered from the disease in the Country whereas 59,761 are still under treatment.

Meanwhile, record 849,692 people were administered the doses of COVID-19 vaccines in Pakistan on July 28, taking the total number of vaccinated people to 27,875,999.
