Pakistan administers over 1 million daily COVID-19 vaccines

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Monday crossed the one million mark for daily COVID-19 vaccines, a positive sign amid the looming fourth wave of Coronavirus in the Country.

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 1,072,342 people were administered doses of COVID-19 vaccines throughout the Country on August 2, 2021.

So far, a total of 31,929,581 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Country recorded 67 more COVID deaths and a 7.19% positivity ratio in the last 24 hours.

The NCOC’s data showed that further 3,582 people tested positive across the Country on August 2.

With regard to fatalities, Sindh recorded 36 COVID deaths on August 2, Punjab 16, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 9, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 5, and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 1.

In total, the Country has so far registered 1,043,277 Coronavirus Cases, 23,529 deaths, and 944,375 recoveries.

Currently, 944,375 COVID-19 patients are receiving treatment either at hospitals or at home.

Half of Islamabad’s eligible population vaccinated

The Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar told on Twitter that Islamabad has become the first city in Pakistan with a population of one million or more to get 50% of its eligible population vaccinated with at least one dose.

Asad Umar, who is also the Chairman NCOC, 35% of the eligible population in Peshawar and Rawalpindi have been administered at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, 28% in Faisalabad, 27% in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Sargodha, 26% in Karachi, and 25% in Hyderabad.
