ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari has said that the Ministry of Human Rights is in touch with Punjab authorities to ensure strict action against perpetrators of the condemnable attack on a woman in Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park.

On Independence Day, a mob of 400 men harassed and assaulted a female TikToker and her friends near Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore.

Later the Lahore police registered a case against hundreds of unidentified persons for assaulting the woman and her companions.

In a Twitter statement on Wednesday, Dr. Shireen Mazari said that the FIR was registered against the culprits, and arrests were made.

The minister said that the Ministry of Human Rights is following up the issue but, she added, we need to try and change such violent behavioral patterns in our people.

Shireen Mazari said that we have awareness progress and laws etc. She said that certainly effective implementation of our laws will have some deterrent effect but mindsets also have to change to stop crimes against all vulnerable members of our society.

The federal minister said that it is the challenge we are now focusing on along with the law implementation.
