ISLAMABAD: Lawmaker would commence debate on the federal budget for the fiscal year 2013-14 from tomorrow, couple of days after Finance Minister Ishaq Dar presented the first Rs3.6 trillion budget of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government.

The Lower House (National Assembly) will meet at 11 am and the session of the Upper Hose (Senate) will begin at 4 pm.

Members from the treasury and the opposition benches will hold threadbare discussion on different aspects of the budget and furnish their proposals for inclusion in the final document.

The federal budget envisages several relief measures including 10 percent increase in pension and a housing scheme for low income groups.

According to the budgetary proposals‚ the beneficiaries of Income Support Program will get Rs1200 per month from the next financial year.

Special schemes have also been announced for the young lot to help them stand at their own. Those pursuing Masters and doctorate degree will be given laptops under a new scheme.

In view of the crippling energy crisis‚ it has been decided to pay off over Rs500 billion rupees circular debt in 60 days. Besides huge allocations have been made for major power projects.

The PML-N government has also taken unprecedented decisions of austerity measures and reduction of non-development expenditures by thirty percent. These taxation measures are aimed at steering the country out of financial crisis and other multiple challenges.
