ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will undertake a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday to offer condolences to the Al-Nahyan family, the leadership and people of the UAE on the passing away of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

His Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who had been serving as the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004, died on May 13 at the age of 73.

In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad said that in the demise of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, the UAE has lost a visionary and statesman, who profoundly transformed the Country.

The ministry said that Pakistan has also lost a sincere friend and partner who made invaluable contributions towards strengthening fraternal ties between the two Countries.

“In this hour of grief, the thoughts and prayers of the people of Pakistan are with the Al-Nahyan family and the Emirati brethren,” the ministry said.
