ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Ishaq Dar has said that at present no proposal of increasing the minimum pension to Rs 25,000 per month is under consideration.

Replying to a question in the House in writing on Friday, the minister told that the existing minimum pension is Rs 10,000 per month, and that the government increases it in accordance with the available fiscal space.

Ishaq Dar said that presently, 75 percent pension is granted to the widow in case of death of pensioner. He said that no proposal is under consideration to increase the same to 100 percent.

The finance minister further told that the increase in the Group Life Insurance is the subject assigned to the Establishment Division.

To another question, he told the House that no Pay and Pension Commission exists at the moment.

The minister told that the Pay & Pension Commission-2020 has completed its work recently and submitted its report on June 30, 2022.

Ishaq Dar said that the recommendations made by the Pay & Pension Commission-2020 are being examined in the Finance Division and adoption of the recommendation will be done with the consultation of all the Ministries/ Divisions concerned.
