UNITED STATES: At the United Nations‚ Pakistan has categorically rejected  Afghan allegations about the existence of any terrorist sanctuaries on its soil and Pakistan respects the sovereignty of Afghanistan.

Speaking during a debate in the UN Security Council‚ Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations‚ Masood Khan said peace and stability in Afghanistan is a key constituent of Islamabad’s foreign policy.

He said Pakistan’s newly elected leadership is committed to fully support the Afghan-led and Afghan-own peace and national reconciliation process.

The Pakistan envoy said success of this policy requires reciprocity‚ trust and goodwill.

Masood Khan said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on assuming the office had declared to strengthen ties with Afghanistan covering the entire spectrum of political‚ economic‚ defence‚ education and cultural relations.

Earlier‚ the Afghan Ambassador Zahir Tanin taking part in the debate had accused‚ what he said‚ some elements in Pakistan of using terrorism as an instrument of foreign policy.
