Islamabad, Pakistan: National Security Committee (NSC) meeting, scheduled to be held today December 30, 2022, will deliberate on the rising events of terrorism in the country.

According to official circs, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday to brief him about the currents and undercurrents of initiatives security forces are taking to mitigate terrorism that is again gripping the social fabrics of the country. Relations with the interim government of Afghanistan and the overall situation of Afghanistan also came under discussion.

In today’s NSC meeting, the participants will be briefed about the reasons behind the rise in terrorism incidents, the situation along the Pak-Afghan border, and the implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP). This would be the first NSC meeting of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.

Regional particularly terrorism and the situation at the Pak-Afghan border also came under discussion in Thursday’s corps commanders presided over by army chief General Syed Asim Munir. The 254th Corps Commanders’ Conference was held at GHQ from 27-28 December 2022. A comprehensive review of the professional and organizational matters of the Army was undertaken. It was resolved to fight against terrorists without any distinction and eliminate this menace per the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.
