The attestation of documents by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Government of Pakistan, is a mandatory process to verify the validity & authenticity of documents required for travelers to foreign countries.

Attestation of Documents by MOFA
Educational Documents
Requirements:
i) Educational Certificates issued by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education must be countersigned by the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).
ii) Degrees issued by various Universities must be attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
iii) Certificates of Technical Skill should be attested by the local technical board or trade testing board.
    (Note: All the documents must be countersigned by the MOFA).
Educational Documents issued by Pakistani Schools in UAE
i) All education certificate issued by schools in Pakistan must be countersigned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan.
ii) All educational certificates issued by Pakistani schools in UAE should be attested by the local Ministry of Education and must be countersigned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs UAE.
Nikkah Nama
Requirements:
i) Original Nikkah Nama issued by the Nikkah Registrar with his signature and stamp.
ii) If photocopy of Nikkah Nama is required, it should be attested by a Magistrate or any other Gazetted Officer.
      (Note: Original Nikkah Nama/photocopy must be countersigned by the MOFA).
Death Certificates
i) Such certificates if issued by a hospital should be signed by the Medical Superintendent (MS)/ Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) of a Government Hospital in Pakistan.
ii) Death Certificates issued from the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA).
 (Note: Death Certificate must be countersigned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
Divorce Certificate
i) Should be issued by Chairman of arbitration council of the respective Union Council and attested by a Magistrate in Pakistan.
      (Note: Must be countersigned by the MOFA).
Power of Attorney (From UAE)
Requirements:
i) To bring three sets of the power of attorney, two to be retained by the Embassy of Pakistan.
ii) Three photographs, original Pakistani passport and NICOP/CNIC of the executant are required. The executant must come in person to the Embassy of Pakistan for signing the Power of Attorney.
iii) Two witnesses (Pakistani Citizens) must come to the Embassy of Pakistan, along with their passport and Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)/National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOPs).
Power of Attorney (From Pakistan)
Requirements:
i) Must be completed in all respects and must be attested from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Driving License Attestation
i) Valid Original Driving License with an affidavit.
Police Character Certificate
i) It may be issued by the local District Police Officer (DPO) or in case of tribal areas by the Political Agent.
      (Note: Must be countersigned by the MOFA).
Birth Certificates
i) In case of issuance from a hospital it should be signed by MS/DMS.
ii) In case of Union Council by the Secretary Union Council with his stamp and signature.
Miscellaneous Documents
i) Papers about MBBS/PMDC must be attested by the Ministry of Health.
ii) Nursing Diplomas may be countersigned by the Nursing Superintendent.
iii) Medical Fitness Certificates should be signed by the MS/DMS.
iv) Documents issued by NADRA will be directly attested from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan.
   (Note: All above mentioned documents must be countersigned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
