SHARJAH, UAE: The 8th Edition of the annual Date Festival has brought Souq Al Jubail in Sharjah to life.
The festival began on June 15, 2023 and has attracted residents eager to purchase freshly harvested dates.
With nearly eight stalls offering a wide variety of locally grown and neighboring Country’s dates.
In the festival, some of the notable ones available include Al-Hilali, Al-Khashkar, Al-Khasab, Al-Muzaini, Al-Jabri, Al-Baql, and Al-Salani, Nagal, Khneizi, Bu Maan, Khalas, Khadrawi, Barhi, Lulu, Shishi, and many other diverse types of dates.
Visitors can explore and indulge in their favorites.
The festival aligns with the start of the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) date season, resulting in active participation from date shop owners and market vendors.
Hosted by Souq Al Jubail, the festival will continue till September 2023, allowing ample time for date enthusiasts to enjoy the festivities.
Dates hold great significance in Emirati and Arab households, being an essential food product known for its high nutritional benefits and year-round availability.
The Chief Officer of Souq Al Jubail Hamid Al Zarouni said “Today we start the eighth annual Date Festival. This year we host eight participants. They have different types of dates coming from all over the Gulf. We have like Nagal from Oman, we have Halawy, we also have Zaghloul, and a few dates are expected to come from Al Ain, Liwa.”
Hamid Al Zarouni said “This festival will be for three months which will cover the whole different type of dates.”
“We invite families to come to see the festival and take advantage of what we offering here in Souq Al Jubai,” he said.
