LAHORE: The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr. Rizwan Naseer carried out a performance review of emergency operations in all Districts of Punjab to ensure uniform standard of the Service. The emergency data revealed 48485 victims of emergencies were rescued by the Punjab Emergency Service while conducting 47864 rescue operations in May in Punjab, whereas the average response time was reported 6 minutes.

The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded includes 15482 Road Traffic Accidents, 28266 Medical emergencies, 1323 Fire incidents, 104 Building Collapse incidents, 2244 Crime, 193 Drowning Incidents, 240 Special Rescue Operations and 12 Explosions.

While chairing a meeting of senior rescue officials at Emergency Services Academy, the Director General Dr. Rizwan Naseer said there is dire need of effective enforcement and implementation of fire safety codes given in building-bye-laws. He said main steps including external steel staircases, fire doors; pressurized external hydrants system, evacuation plan and emergency lighting system, installation of fire extinguishers, clear access and removal of obstructions from rooftops can ensure life safety in high rise buildings. Dr. Rizwan Naseer said fire safety ensures life safety therefore we have to take concrete steps for this noble cause.

These 47864 rescue operations in May includes 8903 rescue operations in Lahore, 4920 in Faisalabad, 3601 in Multan, 2724 in Gujranwala, 1819 in Bahawalpur, 1545 in Rawalpindi, 1861 in Dera Ghazi Khan, 1255 in Sargodha, 1274 in Rahim Yar Khan, 1718 in Sahiwal, 1349 in Sialkot, 652 in Murree, 1667 in Jhang, 652 in Toba Tek Singh, 673 in Muzafargarh, 603 in Rajanpur, 414 in Mianwali, 711 in Pakpattan, 759 in Kasur, 614 in Gujrat, 775 in Bahawalnagar, 422 in Jehlum, 833 in Attock, 866 in Khanewal, 490 in Vehari, 285 in Chakwal, 718 in Okara, 564 in Hafizabad, 1187 in Sheikhupura, 803 in Lodhran, 429 in Nankana Sahib, 505 in Khushab, 359 in Mandibaha-ud-din, 581 in Narowal, 452 in Layyah, 554 in Bhakkar and 327 in Chiniot.
