MediaPDM former cabinet facing corruption charges leveled by journalists within 24 hours...

Monitoring Desk: In less than 24 hours of its departure from power, the ex-PDM cabinet is under scrutiny for alleged corruption, reigniting corruption charges PTI had been leveling against PMLN, PPP, and JUI leadership.

Corruption is not the only ill that has been tagged with the PDM cabinet rather questions are being raised against cabinet members for their incompetency and these allegations are not coming from PTI or anti-PDM elements but rather from seasoned journalists of the country.

Senior anchorperson Saleem Khan Safi in his Twitter message tagged a photo of the PDM cabinet while asking a question people to tell who made maximum during their tenure in the government. His Urdu Twitter message can be translated as “In your opinion, Who among these people do you think has “earned” the most?”. The diction of kamaii in Urdu is used for monetary earning or benefits. This message categorically indicated that all of them were earning and the question was who earned the most?

Meanwhile, senior anchorpersons like Hamid Mir, Asma Shirazi, and Shahzeb Khanzada were critical of the government for other reasons besides the corruption as indicated by Saleem Safi.

Hamid Mir commented:

The burden of inflation that has been passed on to the masses and the violation of human rights in the 1.5 years is too much when compared to PTI’s 3.5 years. Overall, I would say politicians were put in jail during both their tenures, human rights were violated, and gags were imposed on the media.

Asma Shirazi was of the view:

Both the governments — the PTI and PDM — did not deliver on this front. This was a problem that was directly linked to the masses. If the PDM government was not responsible, it also could not control it.

Shahzeb Khanzada commented as:

The PDM kept the economy in an uncertain position. Pakistan paid the price of the uncertainty — the rupee fell against the dollar, markets remained jittery, and inflation witnessed a record rise.

Comments of Hamid Mir, Asma Shirazi, and Shahzeb Khanzada were published by Geo News.

It is pertinent to mention that the PDM government had a turbulent tenure if someone talks about its relations with the media although Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif has been conversant with journalists and a reachable personality.
