ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Overseas Pakistanis sent remittances amounting to US$ 2.2 billion in September 2023, showing an increase of 5.3 percent compared to the previous month.

The statistics released by the State Bank of Pakistan on Tuesday showed that the Overseas Worker’s remittances recorded an inflow of US$ 2,206.3 million in September 2023 against US$ 2,094.5 million of the previous month (August 2023).
Whereas on a Year-on-Year basis, the remittances decreased by 11 percent as in September 2022 they were recorded as US$ 2,487.2 million.
The remittances in the first quarter of the Fiscal Year 2024 went down by 20 percent to US$ 6,329.8 million as compared to US$ 7,897.2 million in the FY 2023.
Share of remittances in September 2023 from the United States remained US$ 263.4 million, United Kingdom US$ 311.1 million, Saudi Arabia US$ 538.2 million, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) US$ 399.8 million, other GCC Countries US$ 248.1 million, and EU Countries US$ 269.3 million.
During the period, US$ 9.5 million were received in remittances from Malaysia, US$ 7.6 million from Norway, US$ 3.9 million from Switzerland, US$ 43.6 million from Australia, US$ 36.2 million from Canada, US$ 3.9 million from Japan, US$ 13.7 million from South Africa, US$ 7.3 million from South Korea, US$ 50.8 million from other Countries.
