LAHORE: A petition was filed in Lahore registry of the Supreme Court on Saturday, seeking to stop execution of more than 400 prisoners on death row.
The petition was filed by a local lawyer.
In his petition, he argued that many death row prisoners had been serving jail terms for a long time. But their sentences were not carried out.
Several prisoners had served more than 25 years in jail, he noted, adding that under the law those who had already served life terms could not be executed.
The petitioner pleaded that implementation of sentences of any such prisoners should he halted.
