IranIran is converting enriched uranium to fuel: spokesman confirms

TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday about some of country’s higher-grade enriched uranium being converted into reactor fuel.

In a press conference, Ramin Mehmanparast, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, told media persons that some of the country’s stock of 20 per cent-enriched uranium would be committed to a facility called the Tehran research reactor, which needs fuel for medical purposes and production of radio isotopes.

“After receiving no positive answer, we decided to meet our needs domestically by enriching uranium at 20 per cent grade and converting it into fuel,” he said, adding that all its reports have been sent to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in a complete manner.”
