RAWALPINDI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has requested Pakistan Army to deploy military on sensitive and most sensitive polling stations during by-elections scheduled to be held on August 22 in 16 national assembly and 26 provincial assembly seats.

The ECP extended the request in a meeting with army officials in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

Meanwhile‚ the commission has sought report from Returning Officers about flood affected constituencies.

The commission has said polling scheme could be changed if circumstances are not feasible in flood hit constituencies for holding bye-elections.

Moreover, the ECP has also directed all political parties to submit their asset certificates by August 29. It is directed that the statement should contain an accurate financial position of the party.
