QUETTA: In order to mourn deadly blast that killed at least 83 people and injured over 190 others yesterday, a shutter down strike is being observed today in Quetta and other parts of Balochistan, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on Sunday.

Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has given 48 hours to Balochistan government to kick off a ‘targeted operation’ and hunt down the culprits.

Addressing a news conference, Vice Chairman HDP called upon Governor Balochistan to order an operation “otherwise protest will be held outside the Balochistan High Court on daily basis.”

“People of Hazara are being eliminated through a well-planned target killing and if this didn’t stop we will be justified in taking any step,” he said. “This terror incident in Quetta would not have taken place had the government unmasked culprits of last month’s killings.”

Early on Saturday evening, a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden water tanker vehicle a packed bazaar near Hazara town, an area dominated by Shias on the outskirts of Quetta, at around 6:00 pm (local time) that claimed scores of precious lives.

Different organizations including Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM), Hazara Democratic Party, Shia Ulema Council, Quetta Yakjehti Council, Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqah Jafria, Balochistan Shia Conference and others gave the strike call.

Key business centers of the city remained closed on Sunday amid high security and patrolling in Quetta.

The Balochistan government has announced one-day while Shia organizations announced three-day mourning in the province.
