LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has alleged that Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) had struck an underhand deal with the government to secure a job for his brother and demanded his removal as Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly.
Talking to media representatives outside the Lahore Press Club on Thursday, PPP’s leader in Punjab Raja Riaz Ahmed said that PTI chief Imran Khan should immediately remove Rasheed from the office of Punjab Assembly opposition leader.
Riaz said that that the PPP would stage a protest demonstration if he remained as leader of the opposition in the House.
The PPP leader further said Rasheed remained a silent spectator to problems, adding that had not bothered to raise the issue of increasing prices of goods in the House.
Meanwhile, PPP’s Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo said it wasn’t the party’s policy to remove opposition leaders.
Wattoo said that Riaz had not consulted the rest of the party members over the issue, adding that changing the opposition leader was the internal decision of PTI.
