PESHAWAR: The outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said on Friday that no one has yet contacted it regarding peace talks, a day after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the process of dialogue with the Taliban had begun.
“No one has yet contacted us. The government is making announcements only by media, no peace talks have yet been started,” Shahidullah Shahid, the main spokesman for the TTP told a foreign news agency on Friday.
“The beginning of peace talks means sitting at a table and discussing issues, no such thing has yet happened,” the spokesman added.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said talks had been initiated with the Pakistani Taliban, adding that peace talks must take place inside the framework of Pakistan’s constitution.
