ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has condemned the recent US drone strike in North Waziristan agency that left at least five militants including Pakistani Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud dead and said that this was aimed to sabotage Pakistan’s efforts to hold talks with the Taliban in a bid to put an end to spate of violence unleashed by the militia.

Talking to media representative on Friday evening, the interior minister said that a delegation was about to be sent to talk to the Taliban tomorrow (Saturday).

Earlier in the day, at least five militants including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakimullah Mehsud were killed in a US drone strike in the restive North Waziristan tribal agency bordering Afghanistan, intelligence officials said.

The officials said that the TTP chief was leaving from a meeting at a mosque Dande Darpakhel area of North Waziristan when the drone targeted their vehicle.

Five militants, including Abdullah Bahar Mehsud and Tariq Mehsud, both key militant commanders and close aides of the TTP chief, were also killed with two others injured in the drone strike.
