ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday received names of five judges from higher judiciary for inclusion in the special court to initiate treason case against former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf.

The names were nominated by all the five high courts and were forwarded to the Supreme Court registrar with service profile.

Those names which were sent to the apex court included Justice Yehya Afridi from Peshawar High Court, Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali from Lahore High Court, Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar from Balochistan High Court, Justice Noor-ul-Haq Qureshi from Islamabad High Court and Justice Faisal Arab from Singh High Court.

On Monday, Chief Justice of Pakistan Chaudhry Muhammad Iftikhar had sent the letter of law ministry to the Chief Justices of all the five High Courts of the country asking them to nominate one Judge from each High Court till Nov 19 (today) for the special court to initiate treason proceedings against former president under article 6 for subverting the Constitution while imposing the emergency and Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) on November 3, 2007.
