ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday directed the authorities concerned to produce all the remaining missing persons before the court on Tuesday.

A three-member-bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Ameer Hani Muslim was hearing the case pertaining to the missing persons.

During today’s proceedings, Attorney General Munir A Malik had requested for time which was granted by the apex court till next hearing on Tuesday.

The apex court also summoned IG Frontier Corps to appear before the apex court in the next hearing, saying failure to do so will result in action against him.

Earlier, the defence ministry’s additional secretary informed the court about the whereabouts of three more missing persons and requested the bench to keep the identity of two persons a complete secret as their lives might be under a threat.

The additional secretary added that the government is working hard to trace all the missing persons.

The chief justice said that the revelations made by the government time to time point out that it knows everything about the missing persons but is not informing the court.

“Save the government’s dignity and obey court orders,” the chief justice said.

The minister for defence Khawaja Asif also informed the bench that he has met the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif before coming to the court and that they have discussed about formulating a law related to the issue.

The bench reiterated its stance and told the defence minister to present the missing persons or provide details of their whereabouts.

“We can give you a written order as well to speed up the work,” the bench said.

Earlier, the sources revealed that three out of 35 missing persons have been spotted; two out of three died due to natural causes while the third one has left the country.

The deceased were identified as Sardar Ali and Nadir Khan who were kept at Lakki Marwat detention centre where they died under the custody of agency.

The sources further said that their bodies have been handed over to their families.
