Imran receives serious life threats from Taliban

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Dr Shireen Mazari has said that the party chairman Imran Khan has received serious life threats from Ansarul Mujahideen soon after he kicked off an anti-polio drive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The PTI spokesman, however, said that Imran Khan will not turn back from his goals.

The Ansarul Mujahideen is a little-known militant group affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

On Wednesday, the PTI Chairman Imran Khan kicked off an anti-polio drive by administering polio drops to children in a government hospital in the town of Akora Khattak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Later talking to media representatives, Imran Khan urged the Taliban not to attack polio workers and let the government run a vaccination campaign to save children from lifelong disabilities.

The PTI chairman said that people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would not be allowed to travel abroad if the deadly virus was not contained in the country. He said that with the right measures polio would be eradicated within three months and the future of children would be at risk if they were not administered polio drops.

Imran Khan called upon people to wage a struggle to eliminate the virus from the country for the sake of their children’s future.
