Abdulqadir Mulla of Bangladesh, executed on 12 December 2013 is a topic of discussion in print and to some extent, electronic media. Pakistan and Bangladesh, it seems, are once again in a fresh arena to explain historical events through their particular interpretations, yes, opposing and controversial.
Te Bangladesh Foreign Ministry would be surprised to find that a world reaction is knocking Bangladesh. The secretary general of the United Nations, US secretary of state John Kerry, foreign Minister of UK, prime minister of Turkey, Human Rights watch, Asia watch and dozens of other human rights and civil society organisations have expressed concern over summarily execution of opposition leader in Bangladesh. A spokesman of ruling Awami league has announced that rest of the ‘culprits” would be hanged by current BD Govt administration. It can explain the height of tension and oncoming killings there.
As the deadly conflict goes on, opposition parties ‘ alliance has appealed for another 72 hour strike to press Prime Minister Hasina to resign instantly. As per very careful estimates, 88 people have been killed by security agencies to “maintain law and order”. Bangladesh is facing a loss of 4 billion dollars in economy per day due to continuous strikes and street clashes and demonstrations. Opposition groups would not be ready to take part in elections if sheikh Hasina’s administration convenes election.
It is important to highlight and appreciate certain international bodies and groups ,since months busy in bridging the gap between opposing leaders so that they could agree on election schedule and procedure, keeping aside their past conditions, if these efforts fail, this could result in Army take over, an idea which is liked very much by sitting prime minister.
Anti Awami League journalists allege that ,like her father Bangla bundhu Mujeeb ur Rahman, she is revengeful towards Pakistan and is proud of her blind trust in India, Indian leadership and Indian promises(not usually fulfilled),It is because of the grim fact that India helped Bangladesh in seeking freedom from Pakistan in 1971.The then prime minister Mrs Indra Gandhi had expressed so many times in her interviews that “Disintegration Of Pakistan into two weak states was the greatest achievement of her life”. Let bygone be bygone.
The high commissioner of Pakistan in Dhaka was handed over a statement complaining against a resolution adopted at national assembly of Pakistan condemning execution of Abdul Qadir Mullah, without fulfilling International requirements of justice. A diplomatic tension is going on without delay.
On the other hand a small group of Pakistani civil society members suggest that bilateral relations between two Muslim countries can be restored if the rest of 5 leaders in Dhaka are released. What will happens, let s wait> A simple fault may take friends millions of miles away.
