Petition filed in IHC to bar Musharraf from leaving country

ISLAMABAD: A petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday seeking to bar former President Pervez Musharraf from leaving the country.

The petition was filed by Hafiz Ahtesham of Lal Masjid Shuhada Foundation while federal interior minister, interior secretary and IG Islamabad were made parties.

The petitioner said that Musharraf was involved in various cases including Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case; therefore he should be barred from leaving the country.

The former president was shifted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday after he suffered heart problem on his way to the special court to appear before it for the treason case.

The three-member special court had ordered Musharraf to appear in court and warned that warrants for his arrest would be issued in case of failure to comply with the court’s orders.

Pervez Musharraf was under intense care yesterday, however, his condition is said to be stable today.

Meanwhile, Pervez Musharraf’s wife, Begum Sehba Musharraf, arrived back home from Dubai today to visit his husband who is admitted to Rawalpindi’s military for heart problem.

Begum Sehba Musharraf had left for Dubai on Thursday to visit her sick mother-in-law in Dubai where she stayed for some time with her and flew back to Islamabad this morning. The sources said that before leaving for Dubai, Sehba Musharraf held meetings with many key personalities in Islamabad.
