ISLAMABAD: The Parliamentary Committee and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reached an agreement on Thursday over the verification of degrees and academic documents of the candidates of the upcoming general elections, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
A parliamentary delegation headed by Law Minister Farooq H. Naik called on Chief Election Commissioner Fakhr Uddin G. Ebrahim in Islamabad and discussed various aspects of the election process. Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Javaid Laghari was also present in the meeting.
The law minister told media after the meeting that the ECP will have the degrees verified by HEC.
According to Naek, candidates whose documents were fake would not be allowed to contest in the elections.
