Taliban peace talks: Negotiators to meet in Akora Khattak today

ISLAMABAD: The government negotiating committee visited Akora Khattak on Wednesday to hold talks with the Taliban dialogue committee to discuss the way forward for resumption of peace talks.

On Tuesday, the government committee met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad to review the tragic incidents of Islamabad and Khyber Agency following announcement of ceasefire by the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The government committee consisting of Irfan Siddiqui, Rahimullah Yousufzai, Rustam Shah Mohmand and Major Amir presented their proposals for an effective future strategy to the prime minister.

The committee declared that continuation of such incidents after announcement of ceasefire would harm the dialogue process.

On the occasion‚ the prime minister said that establishing peace and stability is the first priority of the government. He said that efforts would be made at every level for the realization of this objective.
