Peace dialogue: Govt, Taliban negotiating teams meet today

ISLAMABAD: A joint meeting of the government and Taliban dialogue committees will be held in Islamabad on Saturday to decide about venue and time of peace talks.

The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan summoned the meeting, the sources said.

The official sources said that some headway has been made in the ongoing peace negotiations between the government and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

On Friday, in his address to a new conference in Islamabad after chairing board meeting of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the interior minister said that the first formal direct talks between the government dialogue committee and the Taliban would be held during the next few days, describing it the most sensitive phase of the dialogue.

The interior minister said that they were progressing ahead rapidly and many of the misgivings, misconceptions and questions would stand removed about the dialogue process.
