Paper of Ethics of University of Punjab was 33% from Islamic Studies

Lahore: University of Punjab Islamic studies (new Course) and Ethics paper (Group-1) that was held on April 11, 2014 was a clear example that how University of Punjab make joke with Non Muslim candidates by giving them two out of total six questions in the paper of Ethics.

Education system of Punjab University has been criticized by educationists who  claim that administration of Punjab University is controlled by one Islamic school of thought that is purist Islam due to total control of Jamaat-i-Islami over this university for the last 40 years. Sometime it looks that this allegation is not unfounded.

Ethics paper that was given to students on April 11, 2014 had six questions and it was compulsory to attempt three questions out of these six. These six questions for Ethics include two questions that are actually from Islamic studies including:

1-Write 10 sayings of Holy Prophet (PBUH) containing ethical lessons

2- Explain Islam’s attitude towards minorities

In Islamic Studies paper, question #1 had two parts that are unacceptable for Shias by their believe. The questions were regarding the difference between Zakat and Ushar and what do you mean by Asharah Mubashrah.

A majority of students strongly criticized this paper and called that paper setters must respect religious thoughts of different sects instead of promoting only one sect of Islam.
