Eight injured in blast near ANP chief’s public rally

CHARSADDA: A remote-controlled bomb went off near the public rally of the Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan in Anwar Khan Killay injuring eight people, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported on 10 December, 2012.

The outlawed TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan claimed responsibility for carrying out the explosion in the ANP public rally addressed by Asfandyar Wali.

Police officials said that Asfandyar Wali was addressing the public gathering in Abdul Wali Khan Sports Complex when the explosion took place.

According to the police, the explosive device had been planted near the entrance to the car parking in the complex.

Eight persons including the traffic police official Masood Khan, ANP Union Council Sheikhokai President Muhammad Israr, party activists Sartaj, Nabi Gul, Fakhr-e-Alam, Muhammad Ayaz alias Khattak, Delawar and Abdul Shakoor were wounded in the blast.
