Pakistan should not interfere in India’s internal affairs: BJP

NEW DELHI: The Bharatia Janata Party (BJP), which is expected to win the ongoing Indian parliamentary elections, said on Wednesday that Pakistan should not interfere in India’s internal affairs, the Indian media reported.

The statement came a day after Pakistan’s interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that if the BJP’s candidate for premier’s slot Narindra Modi elected as India’s Prime Minister, he would “destabilise” regional peace.

The interior minister termed the recent statement of Modi as provocative and condemnable, adding that the Indian premier candidate should first decide where does Dawood Ibrahim live and then he should dream for attacking Pakistan.

The BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said that Modi never talked about attacking Pakistan and was instead questioning Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s attitude of making public the governments efforts to bring back Dawood Ibrahim.

“We will tell Islamabad to mend their ways, the manner in which they have been functioning and trying to work with India will not work,” Lekhi told a press conference in New Delhi.

Lekhi said that the Pakistani Minister chose to react to a statement of Modi which was critical of Indian Home Minister. She said that India does not interfere in electoral politics or internal affairs of other countries and expects the same from them.
