National Assembly passes Anti-terrorism (Amendment) Bill 2014

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly on Friday passed the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill 2014, which would be helpful in countering the terrorist organisations and their supporters who are involved in financing the terrorism and money laundering inside Pakistan.

The lower house of the parliament approved the amendments in the bill proposed by the opposition.

The latest amendments compel security forces to seek permission from a Grade-17 officer or a magistrate before opening fire on suspects.

The Senate has already approved the above mentioned bill.

The National Assembly also gave its approval to two other bills including Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils (Amendment) Bill 2014 and The Service Tribunal (Amendment) Bill 2014.
