ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday rejected the bail plea of ex-Director General Hajj Operations Rao Shakeel, an accused of massive corruption in Hajj operations, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
Shakeel’s counsel told the court that his client has been in jail for the last two years as the case proceedings are lingering on. He pleaded to the court that his client be released on bail as former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi secured bail on the same ground.
In response, Chief Justice IHC Anwar Khan Kansi remarked that the case has been lingering on due to delaying tactics used by the accused. Later, the court rejected his bail plea.
