ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday directed the government to set up a task force for the protection of minorities’ rights in the country, and asked the government to take action against those who spread religious hatred on social media.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani issued its 32-page verdict in the rights of minorities case on Thursday.

In its verdict, the court directed the government to set up a task force for religious harmony. It also directed the government to form a special force for the protection of worship places of minorities.

The apex court also directed the federal and provincial governments to ensure implementation of job quota for the minorities in government jobs.

The court asked the government to take action against those who spread religious hatred on social media.
