India lodges protest with Pakistan over delay in Mumbai attack trial

NEW DELHI, India: The Indian officials on Friday summoned Pakistan’s deputy high commissioner to New Delhi Mansoor Ahmed Khan and lodged a protest against the latest adjournment of the 26/11 Mumbai attack trial in Pakistan.

The Indian media reports said that the Indian deputy high commissioner also went to the Pakistan foreign office in Islamabad and lodged a similar protest.

The media citing informed sources said that the Indian officials in their meetings with Pakistani officials both in New Delhi and Islamabad have sought regular briefing on the progress of the trial and the investigation being conducted by the Pakistani authorities.

Pakistan has postponed the trial of suspects in the Mumbai attacks case several times with the most recent adjournment being the seventh in a row, the reports further said.

The Indian reaction comes after an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan trying the seven accused in the 2008 Mumbai attacks case adjourned the hearing on Wednesday till September 3 as the judge went on a summer vacation.
