Federal govt ready to discuss PTI’s demands

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In a bid resolve the prevailing crisis through dialogue, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed willingness to discuss demands put forward by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

It was conveyed by the federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and the federal railways minister Khwaja Saad Rafique in a telephonic conversation with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Sirajul Haq who has been mediating between the two sides.

During the conversation, the federal ministers also discussed the overall current political situation with the JI leader.

Earlier, the JI leader said that he has presented a four-point formula to the prime minister to defuse tension between the federal government and the PTI.

“I have put up four-point formula before Premier Nawaz Sharif and the ball is in the federal government’s court,” he told a press conference in Peshawar on Thursday.

However, Sirajul Haq declined to reveal his formula, saying that it would be inappropriate to disclose those four points.

Meanwhile, the opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah also telephoned Sirajul Haq and discussed the current political situation and new developments in ongoing efforts to resolve the standoff.

The JI leader said that the opposition leader could play a positive role in resolving the crisis.
