Lahore:Â Lahore High Court upheld decision of Session Court to register case against Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif and his brother Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif in Model Town firing incident.
According to details, Session Court on August 17 ordered for the registration of murder case against 21 people, including the prime minister, Punjab chief minister and former law minister over Model Town tragedy where police killed 18 workers of Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) on June 17, 2014. The court issued its order under Clause 156 (CrPc)  of the criminal proceedings and ordered Faisal Town Police Station to register the case.
Session Court gave this verdict on a petition  submitted by PAT for registration of First Information Report (FIR) against a total of 21 people which include Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique, the Punjab inspector general and the Lahore police chief.
Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique went to Lahore High Court against the decision of Session Court and pleaded not to register murder case against them and suspend the decision of Session Court. However, today LHC upheld the decision of Session Court for registration of murder case against Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Shartif and all three respondent.
