Imran says PTI did not ask army to mediate, reiterates demand for Nawaz Sharif's resignation

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Friday that his party did not ask the Pakistan army to mediate, adding the interior minister’s statement in the National Assembly is 100 percent false and is a serious insult to the Army Chief.

In his address to the PTI’s Azadi March participants in Islamabad, Imran Khan said that he told the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif that he does not have trust on Nawaz Sharif.

“I told Gen Raheel every reason as to why I will not leave without their resignations,” Imran Khan said.

Imran recounts that General Raheel told him that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would not resign. However, the PTI chief told the army chief that he does not accept anything without Nawaz Sharif’s resignation

“How can the judicial commission be successful if Nawaz is still the prime minister?” Imran questions.

Imran Khan said that Nawaz Sharif took money from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to make the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI), freezed accounts and backed out on his constitutional oath.

The PTI leader further said that Nawaz Sharif agreed with the former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf and left for Saudi Arabia but lied to the nation that there was no agreement.

Imran said that during the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) era, Nawaz Sharif made us to boycott 2008 general elections but himself contested.

Moreover, Imran Khan reiterated that he won’t accept anything less than resignation of Nawaz Sharif.
