COLOMBO, Sri Lanka: In order to prevent terrorists from entering Sri Lanka, the country’s government has decided to review its visa restrictions.
It comes after Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri declared on Thursday in a video message that the global Islamist extremist movement has launched a new branch to lead its struggle in the Indian sub-continent.
“We have already tightened our visa restrictions but we may have to take some more measures,” the Sri Lankan information minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
The information minister said that any action taken would not be targeting specific countries but will only be aimed at preventing terrorists from getting in.
