Political crises: Agreement reached with PTI on five demands, says Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The federal minister for finance Ishaq Dar has said that the agreement has been reached with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on five out of six of their demands; however, as far demand for resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is concerned, the parliament has categorically rejected it.

In his address at the joint sitting of the parliament, the finance minister who is part of the government negotiating team said that summary procedure of investigation of constituencies and terms of reference of judicial commission are being worked out.

The finance minister said that the PTI formally handed over their draft of demands to the government committee on August 30. He said that a number of meetings of the two committees have been held to thrash out the issues.

Ishaq Dar said that the demands of the PTI which have been accepted include electoral reforms and reconstruction of the Election Commission. He said that three out of six demands are related to future democratic system in Pakistan.
