65 militants killed in North Waziristan airstrikes

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Pakistani air force jets pounded militant hideouts in the restive North Waziristan tribal region on Wednesday, killing at least 65 more militants.

In a statement, the military officials said that the latest strikes targeted militants in the northwest of Dattakhel valley and a village of Shawal area, destroying five hideouts of the militants.

Resultantly, 35 militants were killed in Dattakhel while 30 militants were killed in aerial strikes in Shawal valley.

The strikes came a day after the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for an attack on a navy dockyard in Karachi which had taken place on Saturday. The attack left a navy officer and two militants dead.
