Security forces thwart cross border attack; 11 Afghan militants killed

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: At least 11 Afghan militants were killed and one arrested after the security forces thwarted an attack from cross the border on early Tuesday.

In a statement, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the Afghan militants attacked a Pakistani Post Dandi Kuch in area Spinwam of the North Waziristan tribal region.

The security forces repulsed the attack, killing 11 militants while arresting one.

However, three Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers also were killed during the gun battle with the militants.

The security forces also recovered bodies of three militants which the attackers left behind.

The Pakistani authorities have constantly been demanding the Afghan government to hand over the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Chief Mullah Fazlullah staying in that country.

Mullah Fazlullah , who was elected as the TTP head last November following the killing of ex-chief Hakimullah Mehsud in a US drone strike, has been in hiding in Afghanistan since he fled the military operation in Swat in 2009.

Fazlullah has been directing terrorist activities inside Pakistan from his sanctuaries in Afghanistan. He has also organised cross border attacks from there that have caused both civilian and military casualties.
