ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz will undertake an official visit to the United States on September 24.
During his visit, the prime minister will address the United Nations General Assembly on September 26.
In his speech, the prime minister is expected to focus on cooperation-based relationship with the neighbouring countries. Likewise, Pakistan’s ties with India and Afghanistan will be given special importance in the speech.
The prime minister is also expected to highlight the Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly.
On the side-lines of the UN General Assembly session, Sharif will participate in an energy conference also to be attended by the premiers of Norway and Denmark. The conference will explore ways to acquire energy through non-conventional sources.
In addition, the Pakistani premier along with the US Vice President and Japanese Prime Minister will co-chair a peace conference which will review cooperation among international peaceful friends.
Sharif will also participate in a meeting on reforms in the United Nations. He will underline the need for harmonizing the UN Security Council with the new global demands.
The prime minister, who will visit New York with a short entourage of 14 people including security personnel, will leave for Pakistan on September 27.
