ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has called upon India to immediately honour the sanctity of the Line of Control (LoC) and working boundary and halt firing for durable peace.
Sharif made these remarks in a meeting of the National Security Committee held in Islamabad on Friday to discuss the recent ceasefire violations by India at the LoC and Working Boundary.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, the three services chiefs and DG ISI Zaheerul Islam attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the senior military leadership briefed the meeting’s participants about the latest situation along the LoC and working boundary.
The prime minister condemned unprovoked firing from across the LoC and working boundary by the Indian security forces. He said that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be misunderstood and called upon India to immediately honour the sanctity of LoC and working boundary and halt firing for durable peace.
The premier also deplored the loss of lives in the Pakistani side of the territory as a result of Indian firing.
Moreover, Sharif termed his visit to Miranshah and meeting with army jawans and officers as a moving experience. He said that our personnel under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif have done a marvelous job in the war against terrorism.
Nawaz Sharif also once again assured to provide all out relief and assistance to the internally displaced persons (IDPs).
