ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday directed to appoint the permanent Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) by October 28.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk while hearing the case of local bodies elections in Islamabad on Tuesday, rejected the reply of the Sindh government regarding delimitation of constituencies.

The court directed the Sindh government to present a bill about delimitation of constituencies by Thursday.

It said that the Sindh Chief Minister will be summoned if the provincial government failed to bring legislation on delimitation of constituencies by the given time.

The court directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to decide the schedule of the local government elections along with the election commission officials in two days.

It also directed the Punjab government to do legislation on local bodies elections in two days.
