IED blast leaves Tauheedul Islam volunteer dead in Khyber’s Tirah valley

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast took place on Monday in Tirah valley of Khyber agency, one of Pakistan’s seven semi-autonomous tribal districts near the Afghan border.

The blast which took place in the Narai Baba area of Tirah valley claimed the life of a volunteer of Tauheedul Islam (TI) peace committee.

In the explosion, two other activists of the TI were also injured.

On Sunday, 13 militants were killed by the Pakistan’s military in its latest airstrikes in the volatile tribal region as a part of the ongoing operation ‘Khyber-1’ in Khyber agency.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that those killed in airstrikes also included an important commander and two suicide bombers.

Moreover, 16 militant hideouts and a dump of explosives and ammunition were also destroyed in the strikes.

The Pakistan’s military has been carrying out ‘Khyber-1’ since last month against the banned militant group Lashkar-i-Islam (LI) in Khyber agency.

The operation ‘Khyber-1’ was launched amidst a full-fledged military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ being conducted against the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militants in the North Waziristan tribal region since June 15.
