PTI allowed to hold public meeting in Islamabad on Sunday

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A no objection certificate (NOC) is being issued to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for holding of a public meeting on November 30, the federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said.

The PTI plans to hold a massive public gatherings on Sunday in the federal capital as a part of its efforts to pressurize the federal government to initiate investigation into alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections.

In his address at a news conference in Islamabad on Friday afternoon, the interior minister said that a NOC was being issued to the PTI after signing of an agreement between the Islamabad administration and the party.

The interior minister said that as per understanding, a special stage for the public meeting would be prepared at Parade Ground facing towards Jinnah Avenue.

The minister categorically stated that it will be the responsibility of the organizers to ensure that the participants do not move beyond the venue. He said that no violation or attempt to enter the sensitive red zone would be tolerated.

Nisar said that Police, Frontier Corps (FC) and Rangers would be outside the venue of the public meeting while security inside the venue would be the responsibility of the organizers.

Chaudhry Nisar said that the organizers have acknowledged that the venue of public meeting is currently the construction site. Therefore, they should take enhanced measures to ensure safety of participants.
